Explorer's Guide 2015-16

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes." —Marcel Proust

Welcome to the Moss Arts Center’s inaugural EXPLORER’S GUIDE, a resource to equip you for your journey through the center’s 2015-16 season. Inside this guide, you will find:

paths into the performing and visual arts drawn by overarching topics

Ports of Call:
suggested connections to academic departments at Virginia Tech

resources like articles, recordings, videos, and books to supplement your understanding and stoke your curiosity about the artists and their works

Points of Departure:
questions to launch you and your students’ intellectual engagement
To visit the Explorers Guide, simply click on the exhibitions and performances listed in the left-hand navigation bar.

Like any guide, this resource need not limit your expedition. We imagine that you will see additional disciplinary connections, discover other rich resources, and articulate bold new questions beyond what we have charted here. Keep what you like, scrap what you don’t, and feel free to add. The Explorer’s Guide is simply a jumping-off point as you cut your own path through the center’s season.
Are you planning to use this with your class or social group?  Let us know here!

From there, you can also learn how to reserve tickets for you and your group. If you let us know that you will be using this guide at least six weeks in advance of any performance, the center will feature you and your fellow explorers in the performance’s program. Please feel free to contact me at rjginn@vt.edu should you have any questions or ideas about how to engage with the Center for the Arts.
