A Message from Executive Director Ruth Waalkes

    Ruth Waalkes

Dear Friends,

In fall 2013, we will celebrate the opening of the new Center for the Arts, the cornerstone of Virginia Tech’s comprehensive arts initiative. The center will be a landmark not only for the performing and visual arts, but for creativity in all its forms.

More than just a building, the Center for the Arts will be dedicated to learning, discovery, and engagement, a vibrant center where people of all ages can participate in the arts in traditional and new ways. We look forward to celebrating the rich talents of local and regional artists, alongside renowned visiting artists from around the globe.

We believe that engagement with the arts can transform lives and improve the human experience and that through a diverse range of programs, our audiences, artists, faculty, staff, students of all ages, and communities can experience significant growth and development. The arts contribute to our well-being and happiness, to our understanding of ourselves and others. We want the arts to be an essential part of daily life at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, and across the communities we serve.

I invite you to support the capital campaign for the Center for the Arts, and to help us achieve our vision for the arts at Virginia Tech.

Sincerely,

Ruth Waalkes
